But though more disorders arise, as has been said, from eating than from drinking, still they do not destroy so quickly as those which arise from daily tippling up to the verge of intoxication, to a point which habitual indulgence renders it most difficult to avoid. At length, the resolution (good at first) is sapped, and disorganization of the delicate mu- cous membrane of the stomach takes place, and then decay of the liver, especially if spirits shall have been the poison imbibed.
