About this work

Description

Low-growing, red, hairy-stemmed plant with divided palmate leaves and small, deep pink flowers. Has an unpleasant smell. According to the 'Doctrine of Signatures', the plant was believed to be able to regenerate the blood. Has also been used to treat eye disorders and in poultices to relieve rheumatism.
