This work is untitled: the title has been supplied by the cataloguer.
The following description was provided by James Gardiner: "From a gay collector's point of view, this image falls into the category of 'ethnic erotica', in a time when images of nudity were rare. The handsome Samoan is bare chested and wearing an impressive headdress and collar made from a wide variety of natural materials; feathers, shells, flowers, as well as what appears to be three very large coins."
