Description

8 signed certificates, with rúbricas, of course-attendance for the three medical students José Joaquín Ruiz, Benito Franco, Manuel Berganzo. Mexico The certificates are signed, variously, by [J.]A. Arellano [d. 1861], "Dávila" (probably J.M. Dávila Arrillaga [1798-1870]), [M. de J.] Febles [y Valdés] (the last President of the Protomedicato, 1824-33), by "Franco", by C. Liceaga [1792-1855] (the first director of the Establecimiento de Ciencias Médicas), and by I. Torres [y Padilla] [1810-79]. All are dated before the closure of the University on 19 October 1833 and the subsequent creation of the Establecimiento de Ciencias Médicas on 23 October. [See Flores (1886-88), 3, p. 65 ff.].
