About this work

Description

The first panel shows Adam and Eve eating the forbidden fruit while sacrifices take place nearby and on a hill. The second panel shows the sacrifice made after the grounding of Noah's ark. The central panel shows a city plaza, with statues and an altar. To the left and right are pictures of Moses with the tables of the Law and then dressed in priestly robes. The remaining three panels depict idol-worshipping among the Jews: in the first, Zeus is surrounded by statues and worshippers; in the second there is a statue of Neptune flanked by the sun and moon in the sky. At the bottom a central figure holding an image of the sun in her hands and a text in the other is being worshipped; but to the right, arrows of lightning descend on the worshippers and statues
