Description

A reproduction of a photograph of a fresco painting of Cardinal Juan de Lugo (1583-1660) ordering the quinine be dispensed at the Ospedale di Santo Spirito in Sassia, Rome. Juan de Lugo heard of the medicinal properties of cinchona bark with treating malaria and ordered for it to be distributed. The creator of this painting is unknown. Related images: M0004149
