Description

The plague of lice (Authorised Version) or maggots (New English Bible) with which the Egyptians were afflicted by God in his wrath at their treatment of the Jews is described in the Old Testament, Exodus, chapter VII, 16-19. The print shows people picking insects off their skin and out of their hair, presumably understood to be lice. The exhibition label attached to the frame says "vermin"
