    When the review is completed the Department will be able to tackle more effectively the development of the health and welfare services which are urgently required and not least those consequent upon the proposed expansion of Northampton. The first meeting of professional representatives to consider the im¬ plications of town expansion for the health services in the town was held on the 17th May and attended by representatives of all branches of the health services in the area. It is not intended to proceed further until the Minister of Housing has issued his Designation Order. I was fortunate to attend the International Conference at Bolzano, Italy, in December as one of the three United Kingdom representatives and presented a paper on the subject of Health Services Organisation in a Local Health Authority. Although only of two days duration the Conference was most valuable as one learnt much from representatives of the other six European countries concerning the organisation of their health services. I would again wish to record my gratitude to the Chairman and members of the Health Committee for their unfailing support and encouragement in the task of improvement and development of the health and welfare services in Northampton.
