Cecilia Renaud having presented herself before Robespierre, he asked her what she wanted. She replied I am come to see how a tyrant is formed: which answer striking him with fear, & suspecting a plot was laid against his life, he not only condemned her to death, but also all who were related to her, to the number of 60 not even exempting her aged grand-father ... Fragonard inv. del. Idnarpila inc. Lettering continues: The sentence being given on the 22d. of May 1794, & on the 17th of June following, was put in execution The lettering continues in French. Engraver's name given as palindrome of actual name
