The following description was provided by James Gardiner: "A group of Royal Navy seamen on board H.M.S. St.George . One wears Edwardian ladies’ clothes including a very large and wide-brimmed hat of the type fashionable circa 1910. Possibly a ‘crossing-the-line’ ceremony."
