Description
Letter-book from 27 October, 1764 to 4 May, 1765. Author's holograph MS. of drafts of letters to his mother, and various relations and friends, written while serving as assistant to Edward Parr, a Liverpool apothecary who was also a merchant with an interest in the slave-trade. These letters give a vivid account of the social life of an embryo physician, whose salary was £20 per annum, living in, with 'perquisites' for bleeding, etc. Produced in Liverpool.

Biographical note
