LONDON, in 1665, A MONGST the many calamities with ' which the Almighty is pleafcd to vifit the children of rnen, in order to bring them to a juft fenfe of their weaknefs, and to an entire dependance upon him, there are fcarcely any that fhew more true penitent humiliation, and a fight of what is really good, and truly evil, than thofe catching diitempers, which an offended God, fome- times, fuffers to rage among the people. In the year 1665, the city of London was forely vifited by the Plague: an account t.f the progrefs and effehls of that vifitation was kept by a citizen, who remained there during the whole time of the ftcknefs, and who appears to have been true and juft in his remarks. It is hoped the reader will, in a fhort defcription of that memorable judg¬ ment, meet with feme leffons of beft wif- dom, and receive inftruction from this clofe and ferious converfe with death and the grave, Phis dreadful contagion in London was introduced by fome goods brought from Holland.
