About this work

Description

The mausoleum or tomb of the emperor Akbar had been built by his son Jahangir, and was completed in 1613. Archer op. cit.

"The print gives a clear idea of the manner in which the Daniells travelled during this stage of their journey when they had attached themselves to a party bound for Agra. A large encampments of tents is set up just outside the main gateway and the scene is busy with the British, their servants and bodyguard" (Archer, loc. cit.)
