Description
The ninth in a 10-part series investigating diseases from around the globe. Each programme features a single disease and looks at attempts to develop treatments that are effective and affordable to the world's poor who make up the majority of the victims. This part features Cholera, a disease which causes severe diarrhoea and kills 200,000 people a year, some within 24 hours of becoming ill. The programme follows life after a sunami at Nagapappan, Southern India has left people vulnerable to outbreaks of cholera. Stanley Michael shows in detail his operation on many fronts to keep the community in good health.
