About this work

Description

Programme looking at the derelict building that once was the North Wales (Denbigh) Hospital (1848-1995). Presenter Jo Blythe gives us a brief history of the hospital and talks to former workers about their memories of life there. The general opinion seems to be that it was a friendly and caring institution and the participants are dismayed to see the building in such a sorry state. We also see an ECT box that two former workers rescued from the hospital before it was closed; they explained how it was used. Archive film and photographs show patients taking part in recreation and occupational therapy. The programme also looks briefly at the derelict Park Mill in Congleton.
