    LETTER III. Ignorance and fcepticifm of the mofl enlightened Heathen philofophers, nxiith regard to the great principles of morality and natural religion. Faint notions of a mediator among the ancient oriental nations; but none among the Greeks and Romans. Chrifiianity could be eßablißsed only by Divine power. A divine perfon fent into the world for the inßrudlion of mankind, and the expiation of their fins.
