Description
Bible. N.T. Matthew 27.57-60; Mark 15.46; Luke 23.53. John 19.38-42. In the distance on the left the cross is being carried up a hill, amidst a large crowd comprised of soldiers with spears and a flag. On the ground beneath Christ are a chalice, a bone, a hammer, a dish (upon which is written the artist's name) and three nails. Magdalene, with a jar of ointment, holds Christ's hand and foot. On the right hand side Christ is laid in his tomb
