The curve of a lunette, upper left, suggests this may be a copy of a mural painting, perhaps after a 17th-century Italian painter. Inscription on verso of old mount "By Bone R.A." is taken up by a printed label on the front of the mount, bottom left corner, describing the career of Henry Bone R.A. (1755-1834). The drawing may be by him or by his son Henry Pierce Bone (1779-1855)
