Description

Isabel Hilton explores the relationship between international drug companies and HIV/AIDS drugs in South Africa, where life expectancy has fallen from 65 yrs to 55 yrs and child mortality is high. This programme focuses on the bitter row between the S.A. govt, World Trade Organization and pharmaceutical companies over the cost of drugs and the upholding of patent rights. The Medicine Act effectively allows govt to override patents.
