About this work

Description

Portrays the rise and fall of successive civilizations and cultures which flourished on the banks of the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, from ancient Sumeria to the heyday of the mediaeval Caliphate of Baghdad. Strong emphasis on the history of science, technology and medicine. Contains acknowledgement to the Wellcome Institute Library. Extremely interesting and visually very attractive - a welcome change from tabloid press imagery of contemporary Iraq.
