Description
Frank Rowntree talks about home hazards. A recent conference hosted by a Medical Commission identified that accidents in the home are numerous. The conference discussed the provision of emergency services in response to home accidents. A more scientific approach is being adopted by studying the statistical evidence. In particular, it is noted that the elderly are vulnerable as well as the very young. Rowntree asks the listeners to look around them for obvious hazards such as trip hazards and poisons stored at child levels.

Francis St. D. Rowntree 1928-1996 was awarded the OBE in 1986. In 1987 he was appointed Vice President of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents and also Vice President of the Institute of Health.
For a period in the 1970s, Frank Rowntree was the Health Education Officer for Sheffield. He was invited into the BBC Radio Sheffield studios for a regular short weekly health spot.
