About this work

Description

Two carved wooden statues of Saint Anthony the hermit (c.468-c.520) also known as Anthony of Lerins, with a pig. The first statue was purchased by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in and accessioned in 1937 (accession number R4764/1937). The other was purchased in 1917 and accessioned in 1938 (accession number R599/1938), They are not held by Wellcome Collection.
