F * TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS SHALL COME, I, William Hargreaves, junior, of Bradford, in the County of York, send greeting. WHEREAS Her most Excellent Majesty Queen Victoria, by Her Royal Letters Patent under the Great Seal of the United Kingdom of Great Britain 5 and Ireland, bearing date at Westminster, the Eighteenth day of April One thousand eight hundred and fifty, in the thirteenth year of Her reign, did, for Herself, Her heirs and successors, give and grant unto me, the said William Hargreaves, junior, my exors, adinors, and assigns, Her especial license, sole privilege and authority, that I, the said William Hargreaves, junior, my exors, 10 adinors, and assigns, and such others as I, the said William Hargreaves, junior, my exors, adinors, or assigns, should at any time agree with and no others, from time to time and at all times during the term of years therein expressed, should and lawfully might make, use, exercise, and vend, within England, Wales, and the Town of Berwick upon Tweed, within the Islands of Jersey, ] 5 Guernsey, Alderney, Sark, and Man, and also within all Her said Majesty's Colonies and Plantations abroad, my Invention of “ Certain Improvements in the Means or Consuming Smoke, Parts of which Improvements are also appli¬ cable to the Generating of Steam in which said Letters Patent there is contained a proviso obliging me, the said William Hargreaves, junior, by an 20 instrument in writing under my hand and seal, particularly to describe and ascertain the nature of my said Invention, and in what manner the same is to be performed, and to cause the same to be enrolled in Her Majesty’s High Court of Chancery within six calendar months next and immediately after the](https://iiif.wellcomecollection.org/image/b30753363_0003.jp2/full/800%2C/0/default.jpg)
