I carry away a grateful remembrance of a most happy day. The devotion of the officers to their duties is beyond all praise. I am pleased to report that the boys’ conduct has been very satisfactory during the past year. Shortly after the annual examination by the Local Government Board Inspector, the school and band prizes were presented to those who had shown themselves most deserving. The prizes were distributed to the boys in the presence of the Committee by the Chairman, who congratulated the winners upon their success and spoke encouragingly to all who were assembled on the upper deck. Our efforts to place trained boys in the Royal Navy show increased results, as we were successful in gaining entry for no less than 163 lads, thus beating the previous records for the last 19 years. Naturally, all the boys look forward to the annual prize day as the most important event of the year, not only on account of the prizes they may gain, but also for the opportunity of renewing friendships made with the Managers at their previous schools.
