Description

Photograph of a reproduction of a Greek funerary monument inscribed to "Jason, also called Dekmos the Acharian, a Physician". It depicts a physician palpating the liver of a patient with a swollen abdomen and wasted limbs. The ridge caused by the enlarged liver is clearly indicated. On the right is a large cupping vessel. The original dates from the 2nd century A.D. and is held in the British Musuem.
