Photograph of an illustration from an unidentified manuscript, held by the University Library, Vienna. The woodcut illustration depicts surgeons performing the first caesarean section on a woman in Vienna in 1549. Another photograph of this image was accessioned by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum on 9th October 1935 (PHO 5144).
