Description

The William Tuke medal was awarded to exceptional Retreat nurses at the discretion of the Retreat Committee, on the advice of the Medical Superintendent. Those nurses who had successfully gone through the Retreat training course were eligible for the medal, but it was also awarded ‘honoris causa’ to a few nurses independently of exams, in recognition of their good work and influence. Photographs arranged in 3 parts.
