    eases can be discovered with a reasonable degree of cer- tainty by an examination conducted by a qualified physician, but for the latter it is usually necessary to have laboratory examinations and this requires considerable time. Both parties to the proposed marriage should be required to fur- nish evidence as to freedom from any taint of syphilitic in- fection. Uniform marriage laws are also desirable in all the states.
