About this work

Description

Watercolour drawing of the body of a child who died from phagedaena of the right pectoral region. The ulceration has laid bare the costo-sternal articulation as well as the second costal cartilage. From a child, aged 15 months, who was probably the subject of inherited syphilis. She had been ill for three weeks before her death.
