Life cycle of sleeping sickness causing parasite
This is a low power scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of Trypanosoma brucei brucei parasites at the procyclic stage from the midgut of a tsetse fly.
Note the long, free flagellum at the anterior end and the lack of a conspicuous undulating membrane.
