About this work

Description

False-coloured, high magnification, scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of a three dimensional multi-cellular prostate tumour spheroid (cluster of cells). The cell body (blue) and nucleus (pink) of each cell is highlighted here. Cell extensions (yellow) are also visible. The spheroid is a 3D system used to test the therapeutic activity of anti-cancer drugs and can reduce the need for research on animals. Diameter of each cell is approximately 10 micrometres.
