Description

"In 1779, the light troop was detached to form the 19th Regiment of (Light) Dragoons; in 1783, it became the 10th (Prince of Wales's Own) Regiment of (Light) Dragoons in honour of the future King George IV.[1] As a result of its connection with the Prince of Wales, the regiment became known for elaborate and expensive uniforms and the high personal income required to be an officer" (Wikipedia)

Reproduction note

After a painting by Beechey in the Royal Collection (no. RCIN 400511), painted as a replica in 1803 of his Royal Academy Diploma work of 1798. The 1803 version was sold in 1904 from the estate of the Duke of Cambridge and bought for the Royal Collection by King Edward VII
