    no principles to guide him, and cannot draw proper conclusions, as the forest and thick undergrowth of the physiological effects of remedies for him, who cannot select the keynotes of a remedy and prescribes e. g. Anacardium in syphilitic eczema. Our aim is, to study the differential diagnosis of Morbus Brighti in a scientific and practical manner, and to demon- strate how it can be homoeopathically cured; how far we succeed, every candid observer may judge for himself; though it may have no bearing on the great importance of pathological physiology or physiologi- cal pathology, still for the practical physician we consider provings of the healthy the great desideratum. Not only solitary learned men, but entire societies have since Haller acknowledged the truth of this assertion, but its execution remained difficult, because the physiological effects of medicines are not so readily found, as those of the diseases, and especially because in our age of skepsis the real relations between remedy and disease could not be digested, and far less individualized. Even homoeo- pathic physicians, blinded by materialistic proofs, forgot the old maxim nil admirari, semper res est una, and burst full of admiration in New York and Prague, whereas the present regular school stands on the negative, unable to create anything positive, having no principle to guide them, and their greatest glory, pathological anatomy, possesses no ideas on which to base therapeutics; they intend to go by their experience, which has and will render all medicine uncouth and trivial.
