    removing tumors from the neck, and have tied it without any inconvenient results whatever; the ligatures coming away sooner than in the case of any artery. So far as I am aware, there is only one other analogous case recorded in surgery. Dr. Giraud, in Sedillot's Journal Generate de Medicine, fyc, states the case of a French surgeon, who, in 1814, at the Military Hospital of Toulouse, tied the trunks of the common carotid artery and. internal jugular vein, both of which had been wounded by a musket shot. Up to the sixth day after the application of the ligatures no unfavorable symp- tom had occurred ; but the final result of the operation is not mentioned either in the work itself or in Cooper's Surgical Dic- tionary, which quotes it. 203 Tenth Street, New York.
