Station in Life or Occupation of Male and Female Patients admitted. 11. Summary of One Day’s Reports. Ihe meteoiological observations have been continued. The total number of Patients treated during the year is 2,280, and of fresh Admissions 871; 23 were discharged cured, and 4 improved, while 24 were removed to County Lunatic Asylums. The Deaths numbered 245, being a mortality of 10-7 per cent, on the number under treatment. The first paragraph of the Medical Superintendent’s Report draws attention to the aged and extremely feeble condition of a large number of the cases admitted during rhe year. Your Committee have so often, in former Reports, dwelt upon this characteristic, that they feel it unnecessary on this occasion to do more than call attention to the facts as shown in Tables 5, 5a, and 7. The highest number of Patients resident during the past year was 2,096, the lowest 1,988. The sudden admission of 167 Females fiom Hampstead, caused us to have at one time 1,255 Females, being an excess of 200 beyond our certified maximum. Although the Patients from Hampstead were admitted in the couise of a week, they were received without much inconvenience. Fifty veie accommodated in the detached Infirmary, which, foitunately, has not been required for its special purpose. The day-rooms added to the ordinary Infirmaries, were not taken into account by the Local Government Board in fixing the number of Patients to be received into this Institution, which permitted 60
