    Princes Improvements in Palate and Tooth Plates for Dental Purposes. The palate is to be made with a series of ojienings in it, and is to be placed ao-ainst the roof of the mouth, and drawing out the air, by which means sucking protuberances are formed on fke pituitary membrane corresponding with tbe openings in the plate, which protuberances pass through the holes, and naturally turn over the edge of the plate, thus forming rivets or buttons 5 which alone hold the toothpiece, and are so far moveable that they will yield when eating or any other pressure takes place. The lower tooth plate may be secured on one side by ^an ordinary hook around a tooth, and on the other by the same kind of holes, allowing the pituitary membrane^to come through, thus securing the plate to the lower jaw. T SPECIFICATION in pursuance of the conditions of the Letters Patent, filed by the said Alexander Prince in the Great Seal Patent Office on the 3rd February 1862. TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PEESENTS SHALL COME, I, Alexander Prince, of the Office for Patents, 4, Trafalgar Square, Charing Cross, in the 15 County of Middlesex, send greeting. WHEEEAS Her most Excellent Majesty Queen Victoria, by Her Letters Patent, bearing date the Third day of August, in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and sixty-one, in the twenty-fifth year of Her reign, did, for Herself, Her heirs and successors, give and grant unto me, 20 the said Alexander Prince, Her special licence that I, the said Alexander Prince, my executors, administrators, and assigns, or such other as I, the said Alexander Prince, my executors, administrators, and assigns, should at any time agree with, and no others, from time to time and at all times thereafter during the term therein expressed, should and lawfully might 25 make, use, exercise, and vend, within the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, the Channel Islands, and Isle of Man, an Invention for “ Improvements in Palate and Tooth Plates for Dental Purposes,” a com¬ munication to me from abroad by John Mittelhaus (Court Dentist), resident at Berlin, in the Kingdom of Prussia,” upon the condition (amongst others) 30 that I, the said Alexander Prince, my executors, or administrators, by an instrument in writing under my, or their, or one of their hands and seals, should particularly describe and ascertain the nature of the said Invention, and in what manner the same was to be performed, and cause the same to bo filed in the Great Seal Patent Office within six calendar months next 35 and immediately after the date of the said Letters Patent.
