About this work

Description

A painting in Rita Simon's Traditional Massive style, depicting a black mountain like a pyramid painted by a male patient. Rita Simon speculated that it showed, "A slag-heap? It is a mountain of depression, black despair, self destructive impulsiveness. On the left is the sun: the therapy has been successful internally. On the right it is colder, representing the colder outside world, with blue rain on the far right"

The title has been taken from notes made during conversations between Rita Simon and Wellcome staff between 1995 and 1997.

The date has been taken from other items in the section.
