About this work

Description

A paper board game advertising Veno's Lightning Cough Cure printed in light brown, pale blue and black on white paper. There are 30 circular or oval spaces, taking the players through a journey round Britain, starting in Manchester and ending back there at the Veno's factory. Each space has a small illustration of some local landmark (Brighton Palace Pier, York Minster, Birmingham Town Hall, etc.). There are 5cut out counters with old cars on them and a circular 'dice' to be spun rather than thrown. Instructions and testimonials are on the back. The cure was also supposed to be effective for asthma, bronchitis, whooping cough, catarrh and children's coughs "and is free from the dangerous drugs" used in similar preparations (heroin and opium).
