Brunei age's Improvements in Drawing off Fluids, §c. times thereafter during the term therein expressed, should and law¬ fully might make, use, exercise, and vend within the United King¬ dom of Great Britain and Ireland, the Channel Islands, and Isle of Man, an Invention for “ Improvements in Apparatus eor Drawing oef 5 Fluids from Animal Bodies,” being a communication from abroad, upon the condition (amongst others) that I, the said Edwin Lewis Brundage, by an instrument in writing under my hand and seal, should particularly describe and ascertain the nature of the said Invention, and in what manner the same was to be performed, and 10 cause the same to be filed in the Great Seal Patent Office within six calendar months next and immediately after the date of the said Letters Patent. NOW KNOW YE, that I, the said Edwin Lewis Brundage, do hereby declare the nature of the said Invention, and in what manner 15 the same is to be performed, to be particularly described and ascer¬ tained in and by the following statement, reference being had to the Drawings hereunto annexed, and to the letters and figures marked thereon (that is to say) : This Invention, as communicated to me by my foreign correspond- 20 ent, relates to the combination of a breast cup, cupping or leeching glass, with a flexible chamber, which is capable of being compressed to exhaust the air therefrom, and of expanding by the force of a spring contained therein, and which is provided with a valve or valves arranged so as to open as desired to permit of the exhaustion 25 of the chamber, and to operate in an opposite manner to insure suction when the cylinder shall expand. v In the accompanying Drawing, Fig. 1, is an elevation of an appa¬ ratus constructed according to this Invention, and intended to be used for drawing milk from the breasts of females. Fig. 2, is a 3Q longitudinal section, representing the interior of the same.
