About this work

Description

Here, Slovenian philosopher and psychoanalyst Slavoj Zizek discusses cinema in relation to the structure of our unconscious minds. Working with an eclectic and extremely compelling selection of celebrated and lesser-known movie clips, Žižek speaks from within certain key movie scenes and explains what is potentially going on beyond the cinematic surface and what movies can tell us about ourselves. The three parts of the DVD cover Zizek's ideas on fantasy, reality, sexuality, subjectivity, form and desire. In effect, Zizek uses cinema to illustrate some of the most intriguing ideas of psychoanalysis with great insight, passion and a sense of humour.
