Description

Black and white photograph of a woman with cachexia strumipriva (myxœdème opératoire of Reverdin), taken five years after the complete extirpation of the thyroid gland. There was great anaemia, but there is no abnormal swelling. Both the recurrent laryngeal nerves have probably been divided. Case of P C, one of the five cases from which this disease was first described. See 'Journal de la Suisse Romande', 1883. Seen at Geneva, in August 1886.
