About this work

Description

After Rāvana's defeat by Rāma, he resolved to seek revenge by abducting Rāma's wife, Sītā, who he had fallen in love with. Rāvana deceived Sītā by disguising himself as a religous mendicant and carried her off to Lanka, whereupon he urged her to become his wife. Sītā remained pure to Rāma and was eventually rescued by him
