    THE POCKET FORMULARY. Acetas Calcis. See Calcis Acetas. [The Salts generally are placed under their respective bases; as Potassde Acetas; Plumbi Acetas; Sodse. Acetas.] Acettca. Medicated Vinegars. The solid ingredients, previ- ously cut or bruised, are macerated with the vinegar, in glass vessels, for the time prescribed, shaking the mixture occasionally. The liquid should then be strained off, and the ingredients pressed, unless otherwise directed. If the liquor does not be- come clear by subsidence, filter it. Acetone. See Naphtha. Acetum. Vinegar is procured in this country from malt, by fer- mentation, &c. French vinegar (Acetum G-allicum, E., Acetum Vini, D.) is made from wine. Acetum Allti. Fresh garlic 3vj, distilled vinegar Oiij, proof spirit f 3iv. Macerate 3 days. Acetum Antihystericum. Castor Jij, galbanum 3iv, rue 3j, vinegar ft>ij. Macerate and strain. Acetum Antisepticum. Four- Thieves' Vinegar. See Acidum aceticum aromaticum. E. Acetum Aromaticum. P. Aromatic Spirit of Vinegar. Strong acetic acid Oj, camphor 3ij, oil of lavender gr. ix, oil of cloves 3ss, oil of cinnamon gr. xx. Acetum Cantharidis [Epispasticum]. L. Cantharides in powder gij, acetic acid f 3xx. Macerate 8 days, and strain. E. Can- tharides p. 3iij, acetic acid f 3v, pyroligneous acid f 3xv, euphor- bium 3ss. 7 days. [To promote prompt vesication. See also Tinctura Canthar. Acetica.] 2
