About this work

Description

Paul H. Hollinger MD, Professor of Otolaryngology introduces the programme at his desk to camera. The mechanics of speech are shown by animation. The different disorders leading to hoarseness are discussed. Techniques for examining the larynx with a mirror and a laryngoscope are demonstrated and endoscopic photography shows different types of paralysis of vocals cords, cancer and polyps. Fascinating diagnosis of different conditions; the doctors and patients are well-groomed for filming and the diagnosis is in a studio setting - hard to tell whether the patients understand the medical jargon. The patients were from St. Luke's Hospital, Chicago, Illinois. Made by CIBA.
