About this work
Description
Vayiräkkiya Dipam: philosophical treatise on the absence of worldly
passion. The self-illusion of 'I' and 'mine' is compared to darkness, and
mind and renunciation to a house and to light respectively. The mind is
illuminated by the light of renunciation which in turn dispels the darkness of
self-illusion. This treatise may be identical with the work of Säntalinga
Désikar of Tirutturaiyür entitled Vayiräkkiya Catakam, a poem of one
hundred verses on self-control.
