Description

Douglas Symmers graduated in medicine at Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, in 1901. After postgraduate study in Europe, mainly in Germany, he worked in the United States. He was professor of pathology at Cornell University Medical School from 1912 to 1934, then at New York University College of Medicine from 1934 to 1945 (notes kindly supplied by his nephew Professor W. St Clair Symmers III, November 1993)
