The fourth edition enlarged, with the addition of Sir Theodore Mayerns rare secrets in midwifry, with the approbation of sundry the most knowing professors of midwifry now living in the city of London, and other places, viz. R.C. J.D. M.S. T.B.W.C.M.H. practitioners of the said art. With a further discovery of those secrets kept close in the breast of Mr. Nich. Culpeper, and other English writers; never made publick till now. A work so plain, that the weakest capacity may easily attain the knowledge of the whole art. Illu.

An expanded edition of "The compleat midwifes practice" (Wing C1817C), originally published in 1656 and attributed to Thomas Chamberlayne.
With engraved frontispiece illustration depicting Louise Bourgeois Boursier, midwife to the Queen of France.
The words "Sir Theodore ... Culpeper." are enclosed in braces on title page.
Signatures: [A] [B]⁴ chi² A-X.
Chi² is a bifolium consisting of letterpress "The explication of the figure" on verso of first leaf and an engraving of female anatomy on recto of second leaf.
"Rare secrets brought to light" has separate dated title page; pagination and register are continuous.
