Reproduction of a woodcut titled "St. Anthony and a victim of his disease" with the caption: "The monastic order of St. Anthony was devoted to the care of sufferers from ergotism. The sufferer is shown here using a crutch to support a withered leg while his raied hand has burst into flames, symbolic of the sensations of the disease. On the left shoulder of St. Anthony's robe is the T representing his order and probably also designating the crutch of those afflicted with St. Anthony's disease. The hog which was the inseperable companion of this saint is show here peering from behind the robe."
