    wings ; scutellum white ; abdomen with the 2nd and 3rd segments red, base of the 3rd black, the 6th white above ; legs red, coxee and trochanters black ; posterior with the tips of the femora and of the tibize black; wings yellowish-hyaline, stigma reddish ; costa ferruginous ; scales fuscous, occa- sionally ferruginous. Abundant in the winter and spring throughout the metropolitan district. Sp.106. vadatorius. Miger, segmentis 2 et 3 rufis incisuréd nigra, 4-7 albo marginatis, femoribus tibiisque rufis ; posticorum apice nigro: mas orbitis oculorum internis et antennarum basi flavis: foemina antennarum annulo albo. Black: male with the face white, with a broad black streak, or black, with the inner orbits and a spot on the side of the clypeus white or yellowish ; mouth reddish or yellowish ; female with the mandibles red in the middle, the inner orbits dull ferruginous; antennze with the 2 basal joints black, red beneath, or entirely red ; the 13 following, or the greater portion, yellowish, remainder fuscous ; of the female involuted, with about the 6th to the 12th joints white, rusty beneath ; thorax with a streak or dot beneath the wings, and in the male with a line before them ochreous ; metathorax with 2 very obtuse spines ; scutellum ochreous ; abdomen with the 2nd and 8rd seg- ments red, the extreme margin and also the base of the 3rd black, the margins of the others whitish. or glaucous, the 6th and 7th sometimes entirely black in the females ; legs with the coxe and trochanters black, the last in the male mostly red at the apex ; femora and tibie red, posterior black at the tip ; tarsi red, posterior more or less dusky ; wings yellowish- hyaline, stigma dull saffron, costa rusty, scales the same or whitish. Searce: found near London in June. Sp. 107. concinnatorius. Niger, annulo antennarum albo, collaris margine antice trbiisque flavis, his posticis apice nigro, segmentis 2 et 3 rufis, hoc basi nigro, orbitis oculorum verticalibus pallidis. (Long. corp. 7 lin. ; Exp. Alar. 104 lin.) Ie. concinnatorius. Steph. Nomen. 2d edit. Appendix. Black: palpi fulvous; frontal orbits pale yellowish ; antenne with the 8th to 16th joints white above, red beneath ; anterior margin of the collar yellow ; scutellum white ; abdomen with the 2nd and 3rd segments pale red, the base of the 3rd black, the apex of the last 3 with a white spot; legs with the femora black, the anterior pair reddish at the apex ; tibia pale reddish- yellow, the tip of the hinder pair broadly black ; tarsi yellow, the posterior pair with the tips of the joints black; wings yellowish-hyaline, with the costa, stigma, and scales reddish-yellow.
