    Home Supervision. For domiciliary confinements, the District Nursing Sisters undertook the supervision of 307 cases with a total of 1,964 visits. They also undertook the supervision of 463 cases due to be confined in hospital but where clinic attendance for supervision was not practicable. A total of 2,355 visits werepaid to these cases. MIDWIFERY SERVICES. Births notified to this Department as having occurred within the County during 1957, i.e., before correction for mother's residence, are classified as follows:- (i) Total number of births 389 being live births 380 and still-births 9. (ii) Total number of births in (i) occurring in institutions... 123 being live births 118 and still-births 5. (iii) Total number of births in (i) occurring at home 266 being live births 262 and still-births 4. (iv) Total number of births in (iii) classified to show nature of attendance at birth:- Cases dealt with under Section 23(2) of the National Health Service (Scotland) Act. 1947.
